Police Raid House Suspected of Hosting Gay Party in Jember, Four Men Arrested
Police conducted a raid on a house suspected of being the location of a same-sex gathering during Ramadan in Jember, East Java. Four men were arrested during the operation.
A video of the police raid went viral on social media. Kasat Reskrim (head of criminal investigation) at Jember Police Station, Angga Riatma, confirmed the raid when contacted.
“We are still examining which legal provision to apply. We will refer this to the Women and Child Protection Unit,” Angga stated when asked, according to detikJatim, Monday 16 March 2026.
The raid was also posted on the official Instagram account of Jember Police’s Public Relations Office. The operation took place at Mahkota Raya Rengganis residential complex in Jember on Saturday 14 March 2026 in the early morning hours.
“Neighbours reported they had become suspicious of activity at the house because unfamiliar men were frequently seen entering and leaving without explanation from the local community leader,” according to an official statement from Jember Police’s Public Relations Office.
As a result, four men allegedly planning to host a same-sex sexual gathering were apprehended. Police also seized several pieces of evidence related to the alleged deviant sexual practices.
“Including one silver-coloured wig, eight contraceptive devices, two bottles of lubricant, accessories such as hairbands and glasses, one set of makeup equipment, one bottle of stimulant medication, a motorcycle, and evidence of messages from a short message application,” the Jember Police Public Relations Office statement continued.
