The case of illegal hard drug distribution disguised as a grocery store in the Tamansari area, West Jakarta, was revealed on Monday (11/5/2026). Initially, police received information from the public regarding activity involving the sale of drugs without proper permits at the location.

The investigation was led by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Tamansari Police, AKP Egy Irwansyah, accompanied by the Head of Narcotics Sub-Unit, AKP Madjen Silaban. Officers immediately conducted observation and investigation at the location.

“Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man with suspicious movements who was allegedly carrying out illegal drug transactions,” said the Chief of Metro Tamansari Police, Kompol Bobby M Zulfikar, in a statement on Sunday (17/5).

The police then carried out an examination and search of the suspect, identified as MR (21). From the search, police confiscated 500 tablets of Tramadol and 725 tablets of Hexymer packaged in several plastic bags ready for distribution.

“In addition, cash from sales amounting to IDR 489 thousand and one unit of Oppo A17 mobile phone were also seized,” he explained.

During questioning, the suspect admitted that he had only been working as a store clerk at the shop, which was disguised as a tissue and grocery store, for two weeks. MR said he was surprised that sales reached IDR 2 million to IDR 3 million per day.

“The suspect also stated that the illegal drug sales could reach IDR 2 million to IDR 3 million per day. The goods were delivered by people sent by his boss in turns,” he said.

“The existence of the store disguised as a grocery store was known to have disturbed local residents because it was allegedly used as a place for illegal hard drug transactions,” he added.

For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 435 and Article 436 paragraph (2) of Indonesian Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison and a fine of up to IDR 5 billion.
