Police Raid Coffee Shop in Mataram, Owner Arrested for Selling Marijuana

Mataram, VIVA - The owner of a coffee shop in the Ampenan area, identified as RS (39), has been arrested by the Mataram City Police’s Narcotics Unit for allegedly being involved in drug trafficking by selling packages of marijuana for 1.2 million rupiah.

Head of the Narcotics Unit of the Mataram City Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Remanto, said that the arrest of RS was the result of an investigation that followed the arrest of a man with the initials WAP (35) in the Karang Bayan area, Lingsar District, West Lombok Regency.

“So, the arrest of RS started from the investigation at the crime scene in Lingsar,” he said on Friday, May 15, 2026.

The suspect was arrested in the West Lombok area on Thursday afternoon, May 14, 2026. From the location of the arrest in a house, police confiscated six small packages containing marijuana.

Starting from the arrest of the man, who works as an online motorcycle taxi driver, the role of RS as the source of the goods was revealed.

“He (WAP) admitted that he had been selling for six months. He got the goods from RS in Ampenan,” he said.

Then, the police targeted RS’s coffee shop, which is located at the intersection of Jalan Energi, Ampenan District. During the raid on Thursday night, police found clear plastic bags containing marijuana stored in a white envelope.

That night, the search continued to RS’s house, which is located not far from his coffee shop. Police found marijuana with a total weight of 653.4 grams from several storage locations.

“Some were found in a shoebox, there are 10 large packages that have been packaged and sold for 1.2 million rupiah. There are also in other boxes and some are still in brown tape,” he said.

To the police, RS admitted to his actions of distributing marijuana. He served orders from the coffee shop and also visited customers directly.

“He (RS) admitted that this was the remaining goods from an order of 3 kilograms, so a lot of it has been sold. This (distribution) has been going on since September 2025,” he said.

From the interrogation, RS has revealed the origin of the goods. As well as the distribution network in the city of Mataram.

“For now, he admitted that he got the goods from the East and he (RS) is one of the suppliers in Mataram,” he said. (Ant)
