A joint team from the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police raided 12 locations across Jakarta and its surrounding areas on Wednesday. The large-scale operation is linked to an investigation into a mega-case of alleged corruption, bribery, gratuities, and money laundering involving three major entities: state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero), state-owned insurer PT Asabri (Persero), and steelmaker PT Krakatau Steel.

Metro Jaya Police spokesperson, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the marathon series of searches was a crucial legal measure to secure material evidence. By Wednesday evening, the joint team had completed searches at two locations in South Jakarta: the de’Clan Signature café and the Koin Money Changer, both in Cipete. Ten other locations across the Greater Jakarta area were also searched.

Budi added that the focus on the café and money changer in Cipete was to investigate the flow of funds from coal supply corruption. The investigation encompasses three major clusters of alleged criminal activity: a mass blackout under PT PLN’s management, a follow-up corruption case at PT Asabri and Jiwasraya for the 2020-2025 period, and money laundering in a debt settlement scheme between PT CBS and PT KNI.

Separately, military personnel were observed providing tight security at the South Jakarta residence of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, on the same day police searched the second floor of the de’Clan Signature café. The correlation between the police operation and the heightened military presence at the prosecutor’s home remains unconfirmed, with no official statement released by Febrie Adriansyah or the Attorney General’s Office.
