Police Question Three Project Leaders Following Fatmawati Excavation Explosion
Police are questioning three project leaders in connection with an explosion that occurred on Jalan Fatmawati Raya, Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Monday (8/6). “Three individuals have been questioned as witnesses,” stated Cilandak Police Chief, Kompol Gusprihatin Zen, when contacted. Zen noted that the three witnesses examined are superiors of the excavation project workers. However, he stated that the results of the investigation cannot yet be disclosed as the process is ongoing. Two excavation workers, identified by the initials H and R, sustained serious facial injuries and are currently receiving intensive care at Fatmawati Hospital. The explosion occurred during excavation work for a clean water pipe system (PDAM). The incident began when the two workers struck high-voltage PLN power cables during the digging process. “It turns out there were PLN cables there. They hit a breaker. The high-voltage cable exploded at the site,” Zen told reporters.
