Police Question Three Individuals to Investigate Roles in Menteng Clash
Police are intensively examining three individuals with the initials S, T, and U who were arrested in connection with a clash on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (26/7). Investigators are also conducting intensive examinations of a number of people who were detained by applying a clustering system based on the crime scene.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold Hutagalung, revealed that this step was taken to map the chronology and the role of each individual involved in the series of incidents.
“For the overall incident, we are conducting intensive security examinations of approximately 15 people. However, for the clustering within the incidents, we differentiate them,” he said, quoted from Antara, Monday (27/7).
In addition to interrogating the dozen people detained, Reynold added that the investigative team is also gathering information from witnesses and residents who were victims at the scene. The focus of the investigation includes criminal acts of destroying residents’ assets, including carts belonging to micro, small, and medium enterprises affected by the clash, as well as allegations of physical abuse against local residents.
The investigation process is still ongoing to fully uncover the main trigger of the clash while identifying the criminal contribution of each party based on the availability of valid evidence.
“Whoever is a victim or reasonably suspected as a perpetrator must of course be held accountable for their actions,” said Reynold.
