Police Question Residents Over QR Code Stickers Allegedly Linked to Online Gambling Sites
Two men seen placing stickers bearing what are believed to be QR codes linked to online gambling sites have gone viral on social media. Police have already taken statements from local residents regarding the incident.
The incident occurred in the Petukangan Selatan area of Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta.
"We have obtained statements from witnesses and local residents," said Pesanggrahan Police Station Chief AKP Seala Syah Alam when contacted on Wednesday (18/2/2026).
Seala said his team had also visited the location immediately upon receiving the report. The two individuals who placed the stickers are still being sought.
"We went to the scene straight away upon receiving the information. We are still investigating those who placed the stickers," he said.
In the video circulating on social media, a man wearing an orange t-shirt and a pink cap can be seen affixing stickers to parked motorcycles and walls. After placing each sticker, the individual appeared to photograph the object using his mobile phone.
Meanwhile, a second man sat waiting on a motorcycle that bore no registration plates. After the stickers were placed, both men left the area.
Police are gathering information from witnesses at the location. The investigation is still being conducted by officers from Pesanggrahan Police Station. The person who uploaded the video stated that the QR codes, when scanned, directed users to online gambling websites.
"We will provide updates on the progress shortly," Seala said.
