Police are still investigating the beating of a Diponegoro University (Undip) student, Arnendo (20), reportedly carried out by about 30 other students. To date, police have questioned 20 people in connection with the case. According to detikjateng, on Friday 6 March 2026, this was conveyed by the lawyer for several Undip students accused of assaulting Arnendo, Mirzam Adli. He outlined the incident.

“The issue is indeed that the victim is suspected of sexual harassment, not just against one person; there are three,” Mirzam said when contacted.

According to him, the students initially only wanted to seek clarification from Arnendo regarding the alleged incident. However, the situation then became out of control.

“They interrogated, as a show of solidarity, (asking) why such things occur among normal students. They are human rights defenders, especially women. Naturally, as a show of solidarity they interrogated. But when interrogated we didn’t know, it became chaos. Because it wasn’t one person, there were three victims,” he explained.

He added that around 19 of his clients have been invited to provide clarification through the campus. Meanwhile one of his clients has already been questioned by the police as a witness.

“A witness at the Polres, one person. Then the names invited by Polrestabes via the campus—there are 19 people. So the total is 20,” he said.
