National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has stated Polri’s commitment to strengthening the use of domestic products as part of modernising the primary security system tools while supporting national industrial independence. He made the statement during a report at the 80th Bhayangkara Day Commemoration Ceremony in Bogor Regency on Wednesday (1/7).

According to him, strengthening the national industry is carried out by increasing the use of various domestically made equipment, ranging from anti-violence clothing such as anti-slash shirts, anti-arrow vests, and anti-radiation suits, to special vehicles to support police duties in maintaining public security and order.

“To advance the national industry and support the ecosystem of security technology independence, we are increasing the use of domestically produced goods as supporting police equipment and gear, such as anti-slash shirts, anti-arrow vests, anti-radiation suits, and various special vehicles used in maintaining public security and order,” Listyo said.

He also highlighted Polri’s innovation in developing converted electric vehicles, namely cars and motorcycles previously powered by fossil fuels that have been transformed into environmentally friendly electric-based vehicles.

On the other hand, Polri is also strengthening its role in the employment sector through the establishment of Employment Desks at the central and regional levels. This institution serves as a dialogue platform between workers and relevant parties to resolve various industrial relations issues.

To date, the desk has facilitated 4,216 workers affected by layoffs to regain employment. Additionally, Polri has handled 267 criminal employment cases, with 40 of them resolved through restorative justice mechanisms.

For these efforts, Polri reportedly received an award from the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) as a form of appreciation for the protection of workers.

Listyo emphasised that Polri will continue to optimise its duties in maintaining public security and order, providing protection and services, and enforcing the law professionally to support the sustainability of national development.
