Police Pursue Two Suspects in Fibre Optic Cable Vandalism in Pademangan, North Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pademangan Sector Police are still pursuing two suspects involved in the vandalism of fibre optic cables on Jalan Pademangan Timur Gang Melati, North Jakarta. “There are two suspects, identified as B and BR, who played a role in instructing four other perpetrators to carry out the act of vandalism,” said Pademangan Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Doly Septian in Jakarta on Sunday. He stated that the Criminal Investigation Unit had previously arrested four perpetrators, namely AS (22), NN (24), MR (23), and SM (23), along with evidence including fibre optic cables, a ladder, and cable cutters. “Their motive for the vandalism was business competition,” Doly said. He mentioned that suspect B asked suspect MR to find people who could damage the fibre optic cables belonging to the victim, PT TKP. The aim was to disrupt the company’s internet connection. “Suspect B gave a reward of Rp1 million to MR,” Doly explained. Subsequently, suspect BR instructed AS, NN, and SM to carry out the criminal act. “Suspect BR gave a reward of Rp150,000 per person to the three perpetrators. The three perpetrators immediately executed the act and were successfully apprehended by us,” Doly revealed. As a result of the vandalism, he said, the fibre optic company experienced internet network disruptions that impacted work activities, the economy, and the public’s need for information. “Especially for residents who depend on the digital sector. This action can also weaken public trust in internet service providers,” Doly added. Previously, the Pademangan Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested four suspects allegedly involved in a telecommunications network vandalism case on Jalan Pademangan Timur Gang Melati, North Jakarta, which stemmed from business rivalry. “The four suspects who were detained, identified as AS (22), NN (24), MR (23), and SM (23), were arrested within hours of the incident on Friday (7/8) evening,” said Head of the Pademangan Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Doly Septian in Jakarta on Sunday.
