Police pull in ecstasy syndicate

JAKARTA: The narcotics division of the West Jakarta Police
have arrested five drug suspects and confiscated 191 ecstasy
pills and 50 grams of crystal methampethamine, or shabu-shabu, as
evidence, police revealed on Thursday.

Based on a tip off, the police on Nov. 24 broke an long-
running drug dealing operation in a karaoke room at the Arwana
Hotel, West Jakarta.

The police arrested Harris Susanto who reportedly had five
ecstasy pills and one gram of shabu-shabu with him, along with
information concerning the existence of four others in the
distribution chain.

The police subsequently arrested Susanto Wijaya, Baktiar
Johan, Jimmy and Sumirno Tomo.

From the four suspects the police confiscated another 186
ecstasy pills and 49 grams of shabu-shabu.--JP
