Police Promise to Fairly Handle the Selebgram Nabilah O’Brien Case, The Theft Victim Who Has Become a Suspect
The National Police Headquarters has commented on the legal controversy surrounding the Instagram influencer and owner of the Bibi Kelinci Kopitiam restaurant, Nabilah O’Brien. The police say it will examine the various complaints connected to the case that has seen Nabilah named as a suspect. Police Public Information Bureau Chief Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said the force is committed to following up on every report and complaint appearing in the case.
“Of course, Polri is committed to all matters that have become complaints and will then probe and follow them up,” he said, quoted on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
He argued that from the outset the incident at the restaurant produced two different reports. Therefore, the handling process must be viewed comprehensively to avoid public misunderstanding.
“Again, Polri’s commitment is that the process will prioritise justice in accordance with procedure and the applicable provisions,” he added.
Trunoyudo also responded to a request for a special case review submitted by Nabilah. The request was made to test the designation of suspect status against the restaurant owner.
“Polri’s commitment to any complaints is that we will conduct a thorough review and of course follow up,” he said.
Previously, Nabilah took legal action after being named a suspect in a case of alleged defamation related to CCTV footage uploaded at her restaurant.
Through her legal counsel, Nabilah has now filed a request for a special case review with the Investigation Supervision Bureau (Wassidik) of Bareskrim Polri. The move is intended to re-examine the suspect status against Nabilah, who says she is in fact a victim of theft at her business premises.
“We have written to Wassidik for a special case review; I hope the Wassidik Bureau can look at this objectively,” said Nabilah’s lawyer, Goldie Natasya Swarovski, on Friday, 6 March 2026.
For the record, Nabilah says she was named a suspect by Bareskrim Polri after posting about the alleged theft at her restaurant.
The claim was conveyed through her Instagram account, @nabobrien. In the post, Nabilah said she had remained silent for five months because she was afraid to speak out.
“I am the victim of theft who has become a suspect at Bareskrim Polri. I have been silent for five months because I was afraid to speak out,” Nabilah wrote in the post on Thursday, 5 March 2026.
