Police conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP) at a house fire on Jalan Teratai, Tanjung Barat, South Jakarta. The fire caused the death of Haerul Saleh, a member of the Republic of Indonesia’s Financial Audit Board (BPK RI).
Observations by detikcom at the location on Friday (8/4/2026) showed the TKP processing led by South Jakarta Police Chief Kombes I Putu Yuni Setiawan, along with the Inafis team and the Central Police Laboratory (Puslabfor) from National Police Headquarters.
Officers were seen carrying suitcases and wearing gloves as they entered the TKP. The TKP processing was carried out to determine the exact cause of the fire.
“Our plan is to jointly process the TKP for these four incidents so that we can find out what caused the fire,” said the Head of Public Relations Section of South Jakarta Police, AKP Joko Adi.
Joko stated that the victim was at the fire’s origin point on the fourth floor during the incident. He said the investigation is still ongoing.
“So, information indicates that the victim was with an assistant and was carrying out an activity. However, for more details, we will certainly conduct an investigation, and currently, we are waiting for the identification team and the Labfor team from National Police Headquarters,” he said.
