Police Probing Suspect Status of Bibi Kelinci Kemang Restaurant Owner
Indonesian National Police (Polri) said it will deepen the controversy surrounding the designation of Nabilah O’Brien, owner of the Bibi Kelinci Kemang restaurant, as a suspect in a case involving the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) and defamation. Karopenmas Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said Polri would follow up on the various complaints raised in the case and would proceed in accordance with due process and justice. ‘Polri is committed to addressing all the complaints and will delve into and follow up,’ Trunoyudo told reporters in Jakarta on Friday night.
The case began when Nabilah posted CCTV footage showing a married couple with initials ZK and ESR taking 14 meals and beverages from her restaurant in South Jakarta without paying. The post went viral on social media. On the same day, Nabilah reported the incident to Mampang Prapatan Police Station; the report was recorded as LP/B/048/IX/2025/SPKT/Polsek Mampang/Polres Metro Jaksel/Polda Metro Jaya.
A few days later, on 30 September 2025, ZK and ESR reported back to Bareskrim Polri, accusing Nabilah of UU ITE violations, defamation, and spreading false statements. In an update, on 24 February 2026, Mampang Prapatan Police designated ZK and ESR as suspects in a case of alleged theft. However, on 28 February 2026, the Cyber Crime Directorate (Dittipidsiber) of Bareskrim Polri designated Nabilah as a suspect in the UU ITE and defamation case. Nabilah’s counsel, Goldie Natasya Swarovski, questioned the decision, arguing that her client was the victim in the alleged theft and called for a special case review to revisit the suspect designation. Forum discussions reportedly produced professional recommendations to be conveyed to the police. The case has drawn attention from DPR Commission III, with commentary from a criminal law lecturer at Trisakti University, Azmi Syahputra, on the designation of the Bibi Kelinci Kemang owner as a suspect.
