Police probing delible ink

JAKARTA: The National Police announced on Thursday that they were investigating public complaints that low-quality ink was used to mark ballots at many polling stations across the country.

The probe is being carried out by provincial police departments that received reports that the ink used in the July 5 election was delible, National Police chief of detectives Comr. Gen. Suyitno Landung Sudjono said.

He said election committees would be questioned over the cases. The use of delible ink sparked fears that many voters may have cast their ballots twice on Monday. --JP
