Police probe grenade findings
PEKANBARU: Riau Police chief Adj. Sr. Comm. Pandiangan said on
Saturday that police had found five grenades, one mortar and
seven bullets on a dredger ship in Dumai regency over the past
two days.
He said that the police had yet to determine ownership of the
explosive materials because his team was still questioning the
"Sulawesi II" dredger captain and its 30-man crew about the
findings.
One of the ship's crew found three grenades on Friday as he
cleared away silt in the vicinity of the ship, while the Dumai
police found other findings on Saturday.
The findings produced anxiety among local people over the
possible presence of other explosive materials in the area where
they lived. --Antara
