Police prevent student convoys

SURABAYA: Police officers visited most senior high schools in Surabaya on Monday morning to prevent jubilant students from parading on motorcycles to celebrate their graduation.

Final year students celebrated the results of the exams, announced on Monday, by painting their white uniforms.

But they were prevented from holding the traditional parade through town in motorcycle convoys.

Adj. Chief. Comr. Endro Wardoyo, head of the Surabaya Police operational command, said the ban was imposed to prevent traffic disruptions. (04)
