The Bogor Police Traffic Unit has prepared a partial one-way or alternating opening-closing traffic management scheme at six congestion-prone locations towards the Puncak tourist area in West Java during the 2026 Eid exodus period.

Head of Operations at Bogor Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Ardian Novianto Azhari, explained that the traffic management system would be implemented when vehicle queues at specific points reach approximately one to 1.5 kilometres in length.

“Once traffic slowing occurs and queues reach one to one and a half kilometres, we will implement partial one-way or alternating opening-closing systems,” Ardian said at the Integrated Post at Simpang Gadog, Ciawi District, Bogor Regency.

According to Ardian, this vehicle flow management scheme applies only to locations experiencing heavy traffic congestion on the Puncak route. Police have identified six congestion-prone locations: Pasir Muncang, Simpang Megamendung, Pasar Cisarua, Simpang Lokawiratama, Jatiwangi, and Gunung Mas.

The partial one-way system is typically implemented for a limited time, approximately 30 minutes, to ease vehicle congestion.

“We typically implement it for 30 minutes, then reopen to prevent vehicle queues from becoming longer,” he said.

However, should vehicle volumes increase significantly, police may implement a full one-way system from Simpang Gadog to the Cianjur border.

Based on an evaluation of Operation Ketupat 2025, a full one-way system was rarely implemented during Ramadan. This policy is typically introduced only during peak exodus periods, specifically two to three days before Eid.

The peak of the 2026 Eid exodus is predicted to occur across two major waves, driven by flexible working hours and collective leave arrangements. The National Police Traffic Corps has officially established a one-way scheme from KM 70 of the Jakarta-Bandung Toll Road to KM 421 at Semarang beginning 17 March 2026 to manage the surge in vehicles. Jasa Marga predicts the peak exodus on 18 March with 3.5 million vehicles expected. Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi estimates the peak congestion will occur on 16 and 18 March 2026, with maritime routes from Batam to Belawan, North Sumatra, also expected to see peak departures on 16 and 19 March 2026.
