Police Prepare Drones to Monitor Puncak Route in Bogor During Lebaran Holiday
The police will use unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) technology to monitor the Puncak route in Bogor during the upcoming Lebaran holiday. The measure is being taken to optimise traffic flow monitoring.
“The use of drones is considered effective in providing real-time visual imagery of vehicle congestion points,” said Traffic Director of Bogor Police Precinct (Iptu) Afif Widhi Ananto on Monday (16 March 2026).
With this capability, said Afif, officers will be able to implement traffic engineering measures more quickly, such as one-way systems and vehicle diversions.
“The use of drones is part of our effort to modernise the road security system to provide comfort for the public,” he said.
According to Afif, the use of drones can also help map the length of queues on the Puncak route. Afif noted that by monitoring from above, congestion sources can be more easily detected.
“We can identify the source of congestion, whether it is due to vehicle volume, broken-down vehicles, or public activity at certain points,” he said.
Additionally, Afif stated that drones also facilitate coordination between personnel at each security post. This is because visual data from drones is directly transmitted to police officers on duty.
“This is a demonstration of our commitment to strengthening monitoring to ensure smooth traffic flow on the Puncak Route, especially during weekends or national holidays,” he concluded.
