The Serang City Police (Polresta Serang Kota) is preparing traffic engineering measures in the form of a delay system at the KM 68 Rest Area on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road. The area is being prepared to anticipate vehicle congestion heading towards Merak Port during the 2026 Lebaran holiday exodus.

The Head of Traffic Unit at Polresta Serang Kota, Kompol Tiwi Afrina, stated that officers will direct vehicles into the rest area if a long queue forms towards Merak Port.

“If traffic congestion occurs towards Merak, vehicles will be directed into the KM 68 A Rest Area to reduce long queues on the main route,” Tiwi said during a pre-operation exercise for Operation Ketupat Maung 2026 at Polresta Serang Kota on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Tiwi explained that traffic engineering is one of the schemes being prepared to alleviate potential congestion. He noted that the Polresta Serang Kota jurisdiction is one of the main routes for holiday travellers heading towards Merak Port.

In addition to traffic engineering, Polresta Serang Kota is also establishing service posts at the KM 68 A Rest Area. These posts will serve as service points for holiday travellers passing through the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commander of Polresta Serang Kota AKBP Winarno reminded members that the Polresta Serang Kota jurisdiction is one of the main routes for holiday travellers heading towards Merak Port. A total of 269 personnel from Polresta Serang Kota will be deployed in this operation, supplemented by 230 personnel from various agencies.

“This area is a main route towards Merak, so personnel readiness and inter-agency coordination are necessary to ensure a smooth holiday exodus,” he said.

In Operation Ketupat Maung 2026, Polresta Serang Kota is establishing several security posts, including the Pakupatan Integrated Post, two service posts at Serang City Square and the KM 68 A Rest Area, as well as six security posts at various locations.
