Police Performance Praised for Securing 27 August 2026 Demonstration
The success of the Indonesian National Police under the leadership of Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in securing the 27 August 2026 demonstration has drawn widespread appreciation from academic circles.
Political analyst Boni Hargens offered high praise for the performance of Police Chief Listyo Sigit and the entire police force in handling the mass action of 27 August 2026.
According to him, the success in preventing the emergence of a ‘black swan’ — a term referring to an unexpected and potentially destructive event — was the fruit of hard work and solid synergy between the country’s security institutions.
Boni specifically highlighted the importance of cross-sectoral coordination involving the National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and the State Intelligence Agency as a security model that should serve as a precedent going forward.
In a statement to the media in Jakarta on 28 August 2026, Boni stressed that inter-agency collaboration is no longer merely an option, but a necessity in Indonesia’s modern security landscape.
“Thanks to the hard work of the National Police together with the Armed Forces and the State Intelligence Agency, the state succeeded in preventing a black swan from emerging in yesterday’s mass action of 27 August. This can serve as a precedent going forward that inter-agency coordination and collaboration is a necessity in maintaining security,” Boni said.
Boni’s statement reflects the view that the success of securing a large-scale mass action cannot rest on a single institution alone.
The synergy established between security apparatuses from various lines — police, military, and intelligence — created layered protection capable of anticipating various threat scenarios before they developed into actual disturbances on the ground.
