Police Patrol in Tangsel-Bekasi: Illegal Street Racing Dispersed, Youths Detained in Brawls

Brimob personnel from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police have conducted regional patrols to anticipate street crime. The operation took place in the Ciputat, South Tangerang, and Bekasi areas.

For this operation, Brimob units from Battalion C and D Pelopor were deployed. Teams were split to patrol high-risk areas in Bekasi and South Tangerang.

Brimob Commander Kombes Pol Henik Maryanto stated that the routine patrols are a preventive measure by police to maintain public order, particularly during peak hours of youth activity on the streets.

“We have intensified patrols to prevent illegal street racing, brawls, and other street crimes that threaten public safety. The presence of officers on the ground is intended to provide a sense of security,” said Kombes Henik in a statement on Saturday (30 May 2026).

Illegal Street Racing Dispersed

In Bekasi City, motorcycle patrols by Company 2 of Battalion D Pelopor covered several roads, including Harapan Indah to Ir H Juanda Street and surrounding areas. During their patrol in Harapan Indah Raya, officers apprehended a group of teenagers suspected of planning illegal street racing.

The officers immediately detained six teenagers along with three motorcycles and took them to Medan Satria Police Station for further processing.

Youths Involved in Brawls Detained

Meanwhile, personnel from Battalion C Pelopor detained youths intending to brawl on Aria Putra Street in Ciputat. Officers found a group engaged in a brawl and swiftly intervened.

Brimob personnel quickly dispersed the group and detained the youths to prevent the situation from escalating in the surrounding area.

Kombes Henik added that officer presence on the ground also serves as a rapid response to public reports via the 110 hotline.
