Police Patrol for Hunting Dogs at Site of Boy's Death, Three Secured
Police conducted a patrol around the site where a nine-year-old boy died after being attacked by hunting dogs in Jasinga District, Bogor, West Java. As a result, officers secured three hunting dogs.
"Yesterday, from the patrol results, thank God I managed to get three. We got three, and indeed when we approached them, they ran away instead of coming towards us, they didn’t attack," said Jasinga Police Chief AKP Agus Hidayat to reporters on Wednesday (10/6/2026).
The patrol was carried out until nightfall until the dogs were secured. According to Agus, this step was taken so that residents feel safe and are not anxious about the presence of hunting dogs.
"However, because the anxiety yesterday was perhaps not about the hunting itself. It was because some of the dogs were off the leash," he said.
Agus stated that based on inspection results, no further signs of hunting dogs have been found around the location, though some stray dogs were seen.
"Because hunting dogs have numbers on them," he noted.
The Jasinga sub-district head has proposed new regulations on hunting. Responding to the fatal attack, the sub-district office intends to push for a district-level policy regulating forest hunting.
"We will propose the issuance of a district-level policy regarding hunting regulation in forests within the Bogor Regency area," said Jasinga Sub-district Head Santosa.
The proposal is currently being prepared, with its legal form to be determined by the relevant authorities.
"We are preparing the proposal, whether it will later be in the form of a regional regulation or a regent’s decree," he said.
Santosa has handed the case over to the police and continues to urge the public to remain vigilant.
"For the incident location in Sipak Village, residents are asked to remain cautious if there are still other hunting dogs," he added.
