Police Partner with Ary Ginanjar to Select Future Generals in Merit-Based Reform Push
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) is continuing to strengthen internal reform, particularly in human resources governance, by reinforcing its meritocracy and talent management systems. One step taken involves the founder of ESQ Corp., Ary Ginanjar, in the National Police Senior Officer Assessment Center for the rank of Brigadier General for the 2026 Fiscal Year. The activity, opened by Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo at Police Headquarters on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, forms part of the follow-up to recommendations from the Police Reform Acceleration Commission (KPRP) regarding strengthening the merit system in the regeneration and filling of strategic positions within the Bhayangkara Corps. The involvement of external parties is considered a demonstration of the Police’s commitment to building a human resources management system that is more transparent, objective, and competency-based.
In his directive, Dedi emphasised that the challenges facing the Police are becoming increasingly complex, ranging from global geopolitical dynamics, cyber threats, and transnational crime to rising public expectations for public services. Therefore, the Police require leaders who are adaptive, have integrity, are humane, and are capable of delivering solutions for the public through an objective recruitment system based on meritocracy. Meanwhile, the National Police Chief’s Assistant for Human Resources, Inspector General Anwar, explained that the Police Assessment Center is a strategic instrument in building a modern and sustainable talent management system. According to him, the assessment center is no longer merely used to assess individual competence but has evolved into an instrument for mapping leadership potential, adaptability, collaborative capacity, and readiness to face changes driven by technological developments and artificial intelligence.
“The Police Assessment Center was established to ensure that personnel career development proceeds objectively and is data-based. Its purpose is not merely to assess whether someone is suitable for a particular position, but to discover the best potential within each person so it can be developed optimally,” said Anwar. He stated that the assessment center is one of the important foundations in implementing the merit system and talent management within the Police environment. “Through assessment, we can map the competence, potential, readiness, and leadership character of personnel more comprehensively. The results serve as a basis for career development, education, job promotion, and the preparation of future Police leadership cadres,” he said.
