National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has revealed that the force is now overseeing the issue of layoffs occurring within the employment sector. He stated that a Polri Employment Desk has been formed. This work unit has been established down to the regional level as a platform to strengthen dialogue and collaboration in resolving various employment and industrial relations issues. The establishment of the Employment Desk has yielded results, enabling approximately 4,216 workers affected by layoffs to return to work. The force has also handled around 267 criminal employment cases. “This desk has facilitated 4,216 workers affected by layoffs to return to work and handled 267 criminal employment cases, 40 of which were resolved through restorative justice,” Listyo explained to President Prabowo during a speech at the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration on Wednesday (1/7). Listyo explained that the force is quite serious about overseeing employment issues, ultimately receiving an award directly from the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the world’s largest international trade union organisation. “Through these various efforts, Polri received an award from the ITUC for its hard work and dedication in providing protection to workers,” said Listyo.
