Police Oversee Distribution of Essential Goods Throughout Ramadan
Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has provided full assurance regarding price stability and availability of essential goods in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr 1447H. Through its Food Task Force, Polri has implemented strict oversight from production to distribution to anticipate price stability and supply availability.
Deputy Police Chief General Dedi Prasetyo stated that coordination with the Ministry of Trade has resulted in an early warning system for price fluctuations in major markets.
“Polri is committed to ensuring food availability across all regions. With the early warning system in place, we can monitor price stability in real-time. Should we identify any anomalies or distribution disruptions, our field personnel will immediately take firm action in coordination with relevant agencies,” Dedi said during a press conference at the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
National rice stocks currently stand at 3.7 million tonnes, equivalent to 144 per cent of national requirements. The Cheap Food Movement programme, implemented by the National Food Agency (Bapanas), is being distributed across 38 provinces and 514 regencies/municipalities.
Beyond rice, other commodities such as maize, consumption sugar, large chillies, and bird’s eye chillies have shown increased production, receiving positive responses from farmers.
Presidential Chief of Staff Muhammad Qodari noted that the nation’s current food security condition is at a very safe level.
“Our national rice stock has reached 3.7 million tonnes, well above normal requirements. Through the Cheap Food Movement in 514 regencies/municipalities, the government guarantees that citizens can obtain essential goods at affordable prices during Ramadan through to Eid,” he said.
Collaboration amongst relevant institutions demonstrates that food security—comprising price stability and availability of essential goods—cannot function in isolation. This coordination ensures that increased farmer production of essential commodities can be effectively absorbed and distributed efficiently to consumers.
