The Banten Regional Police have called on all parties involved in the conflict over the Bojonegara port reclamation to abide by the rules. They stressed that this business dispute must not escalate into a disturbance of public security and order.

The conflict reportedly began when reclamation work carried out by PT Gandasari in recent days disrupted the shipping lanes normally used by vessels heading to the special terminals of PT BAM, PT SMI, and PT Sumber Gunung Maju.

Wadir Reskrimum Polda Banten AKBP M Fauzan Syahrir urged all sides to maintain the security situation so that the business dispute does not turn into a physical confrontation. “The leading sector for this matter is the KSOP. We are only ensuring that no conflict occurs and encouraging all parties to seek a solution in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said on Wednesday.

Similarly, Cilegon Police Chief AKBP Martua Raja Silitonga stated that the police are only providing security and monitoring the situation from a public order perspective. “Verification regarding the condition of the shipping channel and licensing documents should be carried out through a joint field inspection with technical agencies,” he said.

Previously, the Banten Regional Police mediated the Bojonegara port reclamation conflict by summoning the disputing parties and relevant authorities. The mediation was attended by representatives from the KSOP, the Directorate of Navigation at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and the Banten Police’s Water and Air Unit. The meeting resulted in an agreement for all parties to conduct a field survey to examine the condition of the shipping channel, the position of the reclamation, and its impact on vessel activities. The results of the survey will serve as the basis for further discussions to find a solution acceptable to both sides.
