Police Outline Two Options for Social Media Influencer Woodyrman's Case: Extradition or Trial in Indonesia
Social media influencer Mohamad Irman Ali (33), known as Woodyrman, has been named a suspect in an assault case that led to the death of a Bruneian national, identified by the initials MHF (30), in Blok M, South Jakarta. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police are currently engaged in police-to-police communication regarding the legal process for Woodyrman. ‘We are still coordinating with the prosecutor’s office for handling this case while also fulfilling directives from the prosecutors,’ said AKBP Ressa Fiardy Marasabessy, Head of the Mobile Investigation Sub-Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate, to reporters at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Tuesday (9/6/2026). The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have also established contact with the Royal Brunei Police for the legal proceedings against Woodyrman. The influencer is known to be a citizen of Brunei. ‘In addition to that, we have also been communicating police-to-police between the Indonesian National Police and the Royal Brunei Police,’ he added. He stated that the possibility of Woodyrman being tried in Indonesia remains open. Another option is to repatriate Woodyrman to Brunei to face trial in his home country. Ressa noted that both options are still in the coordination phase. ‘Both possibilities (extradition or trial in Indonesia) remain open; certainty will await the outcome of coordination with the relevant parties,’ he said. The fatal incident occurred following a verbal altercation between foreign nationals in Blok M, South Jakarta. The dispute escalated into an assault that resulted in the death of a Bruneian citizen, MHF (30). The deadly event happened on Wednesday (6/5) at 3:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. The perpetrator is Mohamad Irman Ali (33), a social media influencer known as Woodyrman. According to accounts, several individuals approached the victim while he was sitting near the location. In footage that circulated, the victim and the perpetrator were seen arguing. The argument continued despite intervention from bystanders. The perpetrator then struck the victim with a glass bottle, causing him to fall. The victim was rushed to hospital after collapsing. Following medical treatment, the victim was pronounced dead at RSPP hospital on Saturday (16/5).
