Police have opened the possibility of charging Taufik Hidayat, a suspect in the confinement and torture of a woman with the initials YTR, in other cases. This follows the discovery during the investigation of alleged instances where he took the rights of others at his workplace. West Java Police spokesperson, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that if the allegations are proven, Taufik could be named as a suspect in a new case. “We received information that at his workplace, TH had taken the rights of several other people, so it is possible he could also be reported in another case,” Hendra said, as quoted by detikcom on Monday (29/6). Meanwhile, the police are also investigating whether other parties were involved in helping Taufik evade capture, given that he moved to several locations before being arrested. “So for now, we are still investigating, because according to yesterday’s witnesses, there were several people who repeatedly visited the boarding house with many friends,” Hendra stated. “But if there is evidence that he was assisted in his escape or hiding, we are ready to apply Article 55, which concerns aiding and abetting, and the punishment is almost similar to that of the perpetrator,” he continued. Previously, a woman with the initials YTR was a victim of confinement and torture by Taufik Hidayat for approximately three years. Taufik was finally arrested by a joint team from the West Java Police in a housing complex in Ciparay, Bandung Regency, on Tuesday (23/6) at 6.30pm Western Indonesian Time after fleeing to several locations. In this case, Taufik has been charged with multiple articles, including Article 446 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code and/or Article 451 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 466 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code.
