Police on Suspect's Face in Acid Attack: This Is Not AI
Police have emphasised that the face of the suspect in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, revealed on Wednesday (18/3), is neither an edit nor the result of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Director of General Criminal Investigation Kombes Iman Imanuddin stated that the suspect’s face displayed to the public was detected from CCTV analysis. “This is the result of footage obtained from CCTV,” said Iman Imanuddin during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday (18/3). “We emphasise to all colleagues that this has not undergone any changes or processing whatsoever, so we can take responsibility that this is not the result of artificial intelligence,” he said. “We convey that this is purely taken from CCTV captured by surveillance cameras along the route traversed by the perpetrators, so it is not the result of artificial intelligence,” he added. Iman stated that two individuals have been named as suspect perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, with their faces revealed to the public. They are BHC and MAK. Both, according to Iman, had been observed from the start following the victim from the YLBHI (Yayasan Lembaga Bantuan Hukum Indonesia) head office located on Jalan Diponegoro, Menteng. Both were recorded following the victim even while refuelling during the journey home until the acid attack was executed in the Cempaka Putih Barat area, Central Jakarta. “Colleagues can see together the front driver section, then this is the rear passenger section, who at the scene was seen pouring liquid on the victim,” said Iman while showing CCTV video. Meanwhile, findings from Mabes Polri differ from those of Puspom TNI. TNI Puspom Commander Mayjen Yusri Nuryanto today revealed four suspect perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. The initials of the four suspects include NDP with the rank of captain, SL and BHW with the rank of lieutenant, and ES with the rank of sergeant. All four are charged under Article 467 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the new Criminal Code, which regulates planned assault.
