Police on bicycles to patrol Bandung
Police on bicycles to patrol Bandung
BANDUNG: Visitors to and residents of Bandung will soon have
more security and comfort traveling in the crowded city as more
police officers are to begin patrolling the city on foot or
bicycle.
Bandung police chief, Sr. Cmdr. Hendra Sukmana said here on
Saturday the police would be deployed in public places and other
activity centers to give the residents a feeling of security.
"We have provided 45 bicycles for police in three precincts so
that they can be more mobile. They will perhaps look funny or
bizarre at first but they will be very helpful in overcoming
traffic snarls." He said.
Hendra admitted that many police officers did not like the
idea of patrolling on bicycle on grounds of pride but they had to
carry out orders.--Antara
