Police Officer's Track Record Raises Eyebrows: Prior Issues with Alcohol and Women Before Torture Case

New facts have emerged in the alleged torture case involving Tegal City Police officer Aiptu N. Amid an investigation into accusations of abuse, false imprisonment, and an acid attack against his common-law wife, the Central Java Police revealed the officer had previously been sanctioned for disciplinary and ethical violations. The head of public relations for the Central Java Police, Commissioner Artanto, stated that Aiptu N had previously faced disciplinary proceedings for an alcohol-related case and an ethics hearing concerning a relationship with a woman. “The individual was previously sanctioned in a disciplinary hearing for a liquor case and an ethics hearing for a case involving a woman (a relationship without a legal marriage bond),” he said on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. Artanto explained that the disciplinary violation related to alcohol occurred in 2010, while the ethical violation concerning a relationship with a woman outside of legal marriage took place in 2017. Although he disclosed the history of violations, Artanto did not detail the specific sanctions imposed on Aiptu N in either case. Currently, the Central Java Police’s Profession and Internal Security Division (Propam) is further investigating the alleged torture of Aiptu N’s common-law wife, as well as suspected narcotics abuse. The officer has also been placed in special detention during the examination process. “The individual is currently being handled by the Central Java Police Propam for engaging in an intimate relationship with a woman without a legal marriage and for drug abuse,” he said. The alleged violent acts involving an active police officer came to public attention after a woman, identified by the initial M, 30, reported the man she claimed was her husband to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim). The report includes allegations of repeated abuse, false imprisonment, forced drug consumption, and torture that resulted in burns covering nearly half of her body. The report was filed by the Hotman 911 legal team with Bareskrim on Thursday, 2 July 2026. The victim’s attorney, Raden Reza, stated the report was received under number LP/B/295/VII/2026/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI. “We, from the Hotman 911 team, have filed a police report regarding several alleged criminal acts committed by a law enforcement officer,” he said, as quoted on Friday, 3 July 2026.
