Police officers to go on trial
JAYAPURA, Papua: The deputy chairman of the Papua Prosecutor's Office, Djohani Silalahi, interviewed on Tuesday five officers accused of involvement in illegal logging in Sorong regency.
The officers were questioned over their alleged role in the case and are scheduled to be transferred to Sorong regency on Dec. 8 for prosecution.
The five, all originally from Jakarta, Manokwari and Makassar, were identified as former Sorong Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Faisal, former Sorong Police deputy chief Adj. Sr. Comr. I Putu Mahesa, former Sorong Police head of operations First. Insp. Anshar Djohar, and Second Insp. Widodo and Chief Brig. Aceng Ganda, both former Sorong Police detectives. -- JP
