Police Officer Who Slapped Student, Sparking Road Blockade in Bima, Placed in Special Detention
A member of the Bolo Police, Briptu M, who slapped a student, leading to a road blockade by residents in Nggembe Village, Bolo District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, will face legal proceedings. The Bhabinkamtibmas officer for Rasabou, Bolo District, is now undergoing special placement.
“That is correct, the individual concerned has been placed in special detention,” said Bima Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Anton Bhayangkara Gaisar when confirmed on Friday (24/7/2026).
Anton revealed that Briptu M began his special placement on 22 July 2026. He invited the victim’s family and the public who wish to see or verify that Briptu M has been placed in special detention to do so.
“For the family or members of the public who wish to see for themselves, please come to the Bima Police Headquarters,” Anton stated.
Anton expressed his deepest apologies for the actions of Briptu M, who allegedly assaulted a student with the initials MR in Nggembe Village. Briptu M’s actions angered the community, leading them to blockade the road.
Anton confirmed that the alleged assault committed by Briptu M against MR will be processed legally in accordance with regulations. If found guilty, Briptu M will be dealt with firmly.
“We ensure that Briptu M’s case will still be processed legally. We urge all elements of society to work together to maintain security and order so that the public safety and security situation remains conducive,” Anton hoped.
It was previously reported that a police officer allegedly slapped a student in Nggembe Village, Bolo District, Bima Regency, NTB. The officer’s action sparked public anger, leading residents to blockade the road in the area.
Video footage of the police officer slapping the student went viral on social media after being uploaded by the Facebook account @Hijrah Andriani. Based on the video viewed, the man in a police uniform was seen slapping a student dressed in sports attire who was sitting on a motorcycle.
