Police Officer Slaps Student in Bima, Sparking Outrage and Road Blockade
A police officer allegedly slapped a student in Nggembe Village, Bolo District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. The officer’s actions sparked public anger, leading residents to blockade a road in the area. Video footage of the incident went viral on social media after being uploaded by a Facebook account. Based on the video, a man in a police uniform is seen slapping a student wearing sports attire who was sitting on a motorbike. Nggembe Village Head Yusuf Aziz confirmed the incident occurred in his village. Shortly after the video spread, residents expressed their frustration by blocking a road in Nggembe, demanding legal action against the officer who slapped the junior high school student. Bolo Police Chief Iptu M Sofyan Hidayat confirmed the incident involving the officer but stated he did not yet know the full chronology or cause. He said the case is being processed by the Bima Police headquarters, and the Bima Police Chief, AKBP Muhammad Anton Bhayangkara Gaisar, personally intervened to secure the officer, identified by the initials RS, who served as the Bhabinkamtibmas for Rasabou. The officer has been taken to the Bima Police headquarters for further processing.
