Police Officer in Makassar Dies After Alleged Assault by Senior at South Sulawesi Police Dormitory
A police officer, Bripda DP (19), has reportedly died after receiving medical treatment following an alleged act of violence by a senior officer at the Samapta dormitory of the South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Regional Police.
Investigators from the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the South Sulawesi Regional Police have launched an inquiry into the allegations.
“Yes, that is why we transferred the body from Daya Hospital to Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar to determine the cause of death,” said the Head of Propam at South Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner Zulhan Efendy, on Sunday (22/2).
Bripda DP was rushed to Daya Regional Hospital on Sunday morning. However, the victim was pronounced dead during the medical examination.
“The victim was admitted this morning. We are still investigating, so we cannot draw any conclusions yet as the team is still working on it,” he said.
According to Zulhan, the alleged act of violence took place within the Samapta dormitory compound of the South Sulawesi Regional Police.
“Yes, at the Sabhara office — above it is their living quarters,” he explained.
Nevertheless, Zulhan said he could not yet conclude the cause of death, as the investigation is still ongoing. So far, six police officers have been subjected to intensive questioning.
“For the time being, we have six individuals under examination,” he concluded.
