Police Officer in Jambi Slashed While Directing Traffic, Attacker Tests Positive for Methamphetamine
Police have arrested the perpetrator who attacked two traffic officers from the Jambi City Police Resort while he was hiding at a family member’s home. A urine test revealed the suspect was positive for narcotics.
The suspect, identified as Amrullah (30), attacked Brigpol ST and Bripka BT at the junction leading to Angso Duo Market on Jalan Thaha, Pasar District, Jambi City, on Monday (22/6) at around 6:45 AM Western Indonesian Time.
Head of Public Relations for the Jambi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Erlan Munaji, stated that the suspect was apprehended by the Jambi Police Resort Criminal Investigation Unit and the Regional Police Mobile Investigation Team at his family’s house in the Sipin area of Jambi City at around 5:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. Erlan added that after securing the suspect, officers conducted a urine test, which returned a positive result for drug use.
“The urine test was carried out and it turned out the individual tested positive, positive for methamphetamine,” Erlan said.
Erlan further explained the chronology of the incident, noting that the two members of the Jambi Police Resort Traffic Unit, Brigpol ST and Bripka BT, were managing traffic at the Angso Duo Market junction when the suspect suddenly approached and attacked them.
“Initially, someone approached the officers who were carrying out traffic management, then suddenly launched an attack on Brigpol ST. Brigpol ST attempted to fight back and fell, and was then assisted by his colleague Bripka BT,” Erlan clarified.
