Police Officer in Bone Beaten While Breaking Up Brawl, Six Suspects Arrested

A police officer with the initials MM (23) in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, was allegedly the victim of a beating by a group of men, resulting in multiple injuries. Officers have arrested six suspects, identified as FDL (20), SKR (23), ALW (25), FTR (20), RDW (22), and EC (23).

“Yes, it is true, six suspected perpetrators were arrested after assaulting a police officer,” said Bone Police Public Relations Head, Iptu Rayendra Muchtar, to CNNIndonesia.com on Tuesday (14/7).

The incident occurred on Sunday (12/7) at around 01.00 WITA. It began when the victim was sitting in Merdeka Square, Bone Regency, ordering food with a friend. While they were eating, one of the perpetrators struck the friend’s hand, leading to a verbal altercation.

“The victim then tried to break up the dispute, but the perpetrators immediately attacked the victim, punching and kicking him repeatedly until he sustained bruises,” he explained.

Rayendra stated that the victim subsequently reported the case to the Bone Police. Officers then conducted an investigation and apprehended the suspects.

“They were arrested on Monday (13/7) night in the Merdeka Square area, the same location where the victim was allegedly beaten,” he clarified.

Investigators are currently continuing their inquiries and examining the suspects to determine the motive behind the incident.

“At this time, the six perpetrators are still being questioned,” he said.
