Under the pretext of mentoring a junior, Bripda DP dies after being assaulted in the South Sulawesi Police barracks.

Investigators from the South Sulawesi Police have revealed the motive behind Bripda P’s assault on Bripda DP (19) in the Samapta barracks, which led to the victim’s death while undergoing medical treatment at a hospital.

The act of violence committed by the suspect, Bripda P, against his junior, Bripda DP, was based on a mentoring process for new non-commissioned officers.

“Based on the investigation so far, the reason was senior-junior mentoring,” said the Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Commissioner Didik Supranoto, on Tuesday (24 February).

However, Didik has not yet been able to explain in detail the chronology of the assault case against Bripda DP, which led to his death while undergoing medical treatment.

The Chief of the South Sulawesi Police, Inspector General of Police Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, stated that the initial report indicated that the suspected cause of Bripda DP’s (19) death was that he had repeatedly hit his own head.

“The initial report we received stated that the victim died after repeatedly hitting his head. That was the first report we heard,” said Djuhandhani at the Pinrang Police Station on Monday (23 February).

The victim was taken to the hospital by several of his colleagues after experiencing violence from his senior in the Samapta barracks of the South Sulawesi Police. However, the victim could not be saved.

“(The victim was taken to the hospital) while still conscious,” he explained.

A joint team of investigators from Propam and the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation later named one of the victim’s seniors, Bripda P, as a suspect in connection with the alleged assault on Bripda DP in the Samapta barracks area.

“We are also still conducting investigations on these five members, including a friend from the same cohort as the victim, who did not report the incident and tried to cover it up,” he said.
