A police officer, Bripda DP (19), has died after allegedly experiencing violence by senior colleagues at the Samapta Directorate barracks of the South Sulawesi Regional Police.

The victim’s father, Aipda Muhammad Jabir, said Bripda DP was a 2025 graduate of the non-commissioned officer training programme and had been assigned to the Samapta Directorate of the South Sulawesi Regional Police.

“He had just graduated. This morning at dawn he was communicating with his mother and was fine. I had no idea he was unwell,” he told reporters on Sunday (22/2).

Jabir said the family received word that DP had been taken for medical treatment at RSUD Daya hospital. However, Jabir said he did not yet know the cause of his son’s death.

“We are trying to find out, because the information we have is that blood was coming from his mouth,” he said.

Meanwhile, investigators from the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the South Sulawesi Regional Police are still examining six police officers in connection with the death.

“Yes, six people are currently being questioned, and the number may increase,” said the Head of Propam at the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner Zulhan Efendy.

Zulhan said his division was still conducting an investigation to uncover the cause of the incident.

“I cannot yet draw any conclusions on the results. Our officers are still examining the scene there, including processing the crime scene at the location — at their barracks quarters,” he said.

Zulhan said he did not yet know the precise chronology of events. However, the victim had been taken to RSUD Daya hospital for medical treatment.

“This morning the victim was taken to hospital. But that is why we transferred him from RSUD Daya to Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar to ascertain the cause of death,” he explained.
