Police Officer Denies Rape Allegation, Claims Consensual Paid Encounter with Student in Mataram

A member of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police’s IT Division, Bripda MCG, has denied raping a university student. The officer, who holds the rank of Brigadir Polisi Dua (Bripda), is now a suspect and is being held at the NTB Regional Police Detention Centre. MCG’s legal counsel, Abdul Kasim, stated that the intimate relations between his client and the woman who filed the report were consensual and based on an agreement. ‘We deny the rape allegation. The MCG family has been concealing facts that never emerged during the investigation process, regarding the existence of an agreement to engage in sexual intercourse,’ Kasim said on Friday (17/7/2026). Kasim revealed that WhatsApp conversations prior to their meeting contained an agreement regarding a payment request from the woman. ‘In these conversations, the complainant also sent several nude personal photos and a request for payment. So, we will present these facts during the subsequent investigation process,’ he stated. According to Kasim, before the intimate encounter, his client gave the woman Rp 500,000. Additionally, the woman reportedly requested a money transfer. ‘Before the meeting, there was already a request for payment. So, we underline that the rape allegation circulating is untrue,’ he said. Kasim explained that MCG and the woman got to know each other through social media around February 2026. They then developed communication leading to a discussion of a payment agreement before finally meeting and having sexual relations. ‘The meeting itself, according to our client, did not take place directly at his place. They were driving around at the time because it was raining, possibly planning to go to a hotel in Mataram. Because their clothes were wet, they ended up going to our client’s boarding room. That was the first and last time,’ he said. He also mentioned that the case had been facilitated by a women’s protection organisation. At that time, both parties reportedly agreed to settle the matter amicably and planned to marry. ‘But we do not know the dynamics, as there was reportedly jealousy. Jealousy arose between them, and eventually, a report was filed again,’ he said. Separately, the Director of Women and Children Protection and Human Trafficking Crime at NTB Police, Commissioner Ni Made Pujewati, declined to comment at length on the suspect’s legal counsel’s claims. She only confirmed that MCG has been named a suspect. ‘The individual concerned has been named a suspect,’ she said briefly.
