Police Officer Allegedly Throws Acid at Victim, Causing 47 Percent Burns

The case of alleged violence perpetrated by an active police officer holding the rank of Aiptu continues to draw public attention. The victim, a 30-year-old woman identified as M, was reportedly the perpetrator’s unofficial wife and suffered repeated abuse over a period of two and a half years. Accompanied by the Hotman 911 legal team, she has reported the officer to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police for alleged repeated violence and persecution. During their relationship, the perpetrator allegedly forced the victim to consume narcotics and subjected her to torture that resulted in burns across almost her entire body. The victim sustained burns to 47 percent of her body, predominantly on her left side, after being doused with a chemical liquid used as a raw material for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Raden Reza Pramadia, the victim’s attorney, explained the chronology of the incident. The victim was ordered to mix methamphetamine, and when she inadvertently made a mistake, the suspect flew into a rage. The suspect turned on a large flame, and when the victim expressed fear of being burned, he took the hot chemical liquid and threw it at her. Because the suspect is a police officer, he immediately cleaned up all the evidence before taking the victim to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, he provided a false alibi to the doctors, claiming the injuries were caused by a gas cylinder explosion, whilst telling the victim’s family that she had been in a motorcycle accident. Hospital staff were initially suspicious that the wounds were not consistent with a gas explosion, but they prioritised treating the victim.
