Police Officer Achieves Milestone, Graduates from FBI National Academy
Jakarta - Indonesian National Police (Polri) officer Kompol Charles Bagaisar has completed his education at the FBI National Academy Session 298 in Quantico, Virginia, United States, bolstering the Polri’s human resource capacity on the international stage. The graduation ceremony for the prestigious law enforcement leadership programme was held at the FBI Training Academy on 18 June 2026, led directly by FBI Director Kash Patel.
“This education is not just a personal achievement, but a manifestation of a commitment to continuously improve professionalism in supporting Polri’s duties. The knowledge and experience gained are invaluable for addressing increasingly complex law enforcement challenges,” said Charles, who also serves as the Head of Unit 4 of the Mobile Investigation Sub-Directorate at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate.
The officer, a 2013 graduate of the Police Academy (Akpol) and a native of Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), said his participation proves that Polri personnel, including those from remote areas, have high competitiveness on the world stage. “As a son of the region from Alor, I hope this achievement can inspire young people in the regions to continue dreaming big. With integrity, dedication, and hard work, we all have the same opportunity to contribute on the international stage,” said Charles.
Participants were rigorously screened based on their track record, integrity, leadership history, and physical fitness. Session 298 was attended by 255 law enforcement officers, with 226 participants from 46 US states, five military organisations, and four federal civilian agencies. Charles was one of 29 international participants from 26 countries, representing Indonesia.
Over more than three months, all participants underwent intensive training covering leadership management, modern crime case study analysis, crisis handling simulations, and high-standard physical conditioning. One of the most strategic values of the education, according to Charles, is the establishment of a global network among law enforcement officers. “Handling transnational crime and cybercrime cannot be done by one country alone. This FBI National Academy alumni network opens up space for collaboration and rapid information exchange with law enforcement officers from various countries,” he stated.
To date, more than 57,000 global law enforcement officers have graduated from the academy. The participation of Polri officers like Kompol Charles is expected to bring international best practices in law enforcement to be applied in maintaining public safety and order in Indonesia.
