Police Not Only Maintain Security, But Also Provide Broad Benefits to Society Through This
The Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 is cited as an example of an activity that successfully involved community participation from various regions, and even from abroad. Besides being attended by more than 15,000 runners, the event organised by the Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau) was also assessed to have provided broader benefits beyond the sporting event itself.
The Chairman of the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 Committee, Senior Commissioner Daniel Widya Mucharam, stated that the event proceeded safely and smoothly thanks to collaboration between various parties, including the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), local government, and the community. “Alhamdulillah, the entire series of the Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 went safely, orderly, and smoothly. What is most gratifying is that this event not only attracted thousands of runners from various regions in Indonesia and abroad, but also provided a tangible economic impact for the community,” said Daniel.
According to Daniel, the success of the event’s implementation was inseparable from the synergy of various elements, from Polda Riau, the TNI, the provincial and district/city governments, sponsors, running communities, volunteers, to the media. He assessed that activities involving the public on a large scale can deliver benefits across various sectors.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for Riau Province, Asep Riyadi, explained that his agency conducted research to measure the impact of the event on local activity. The research was carried out through a survey of 130 participant respondents combined with organiser data, then analysed using the Riau Province Input-Output Table. Based on the analysis, the event is estimated to have generated an economic effect of approximately Rp58.9 billion, derived from total participant spending of around Rp42.5 billion. Asep noted that the benefits of the activity are not only felt by the organisers but also flow to various sectors related to community activities. “Thus, activities like this have a positive contribution in driving local economic activity,” said Asep.
