Police: No Signs of Violence on Elderly Man Found Dead with Wire Around Neck
A man with the initials S (75) was found dead with a wire tied around his neck on the roadside of Jalan Taman Pramuka, Daan Mogot, Tangerang City. Police stated there were no signs of violence on the victim’s body.
“No signs of violence were found on the victim’s body,” said Tangerang Police Chief Kompol Suyatno in his statement on Thursday (18/6/2026).
The victim was first discovered on Wednesday afternoon, 17 June 2026, precisely at Taman Pramuka, Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Sukaasih Village, Tangerang District, Tangerang City. The body was found after witnesses detected a foul odour in the area.
The two witnesses then searched for the source of the unpleasant smell. They were shocked to find a body hanging from a boundary fence post.
“Hanging with a wire approximately 3 metres long, which was tied around the victim’s neck in a hanging position and fastened to the boundary fence post,” he said.
The discovery of the body at 16:45 WIB that afternoon was subsequently reported to the police. Police arrived at the scene to conduct identification of the remains and process the crime scene.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it is suspected the victim had been dead for four days. The victim’s body has now been evacuated.
“It is suspected the victim died four days ago. The victim’s belongings were still intact, nothing was missing,” he added.
Meanwhile, from the crime scene investigation, police found the victim’s belongings, including a mobile phone, a wallet containing an ID card and BPJS card, and Rp 54,000 in cash. Police also secured the wire rope, which was approximately 3 metres long.
