Police Narcotics Unit Seizes Cash and Luxury Watch from Suspect Attempting Illegal Flight to Malaysia
JAKARTA — The Narcotics Crime Directorate (Dittipidnarkoba) of the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has seized evidence from narcotics suspect Erwin bin Iskandar, alias Ko Erwin (57), who was apprehended whilst attempting to flee illegally to Malaysia via sea routes.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of the Narcotics Crime Unit at Bareskrim Polri, stated that the secured evidence included cash totalling IDR 4.8 million, Malaysian ringgit currency valued at RM 20,000, one TAG Heuer branded wristwatch, and one Samsung mobile telephone.
“The evidence secured comprises cash totalling IDR 4,800,000, cash totalling RM 20,000, one TAG Heuer branded wristwatch and one Samsung mobile telephone,” Eko stated in his remarks on Friday (27 February 2026).
Erwin was apprehended on Thursday (26 February 2026) at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time in the Pematang Silo area, Silo Laut District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra province.
He had previously been included on the National Police’s Most Wanted list pursuant to Determination Letter Number S.Tap.Tsk/31/II/RES.4.2/2026/Dittipnarkoba/Bareskrim Polri dated 4 February 2026.
Investigators will now conduct extensive examination of potential financial flows connected to narcotics trafficking networks and investigate potential money laundering offences.
“We will conduct tracking of financial flows and potential money laundering offences,” Eko stated.
The case represents an extension of the ongoing investigation into suspect Malaungi concerning narcotics abuse and distribution within the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police jurisdiction.
During the investigation’s expansion, Erwin emerged as a figure allegedly serving as a major distributor within the narcotics trafficking network.
Erwin is also alleged to have transferred IDR 2.8 billion to former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro.
Erwin has been transported to the Dittipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri office for intensive questioning and case documentation proceedings.
