Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate of Criminal Acts for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA and PPO) has named Ustadz SAM (Syekh Ahmad Al Misry) as a suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case.

“Based on the case review, investigators have named Mr SAM as a suspect,” said the Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Polri Public Relations Division, Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, in Jakarta on Friday.

He also stated that the suspect’s designation followed a series of investigative processes aimed at providing protection to the victims.

However, he did not disclose further details regarding the suspect’s designation.

It is known that Ustadz SAM was reported to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) in November 2025 over the alleged sexual harassment of five male students.

The victims’ legal representative, Achmad Cholidin, said that the alleged actions by SAM caused severe trauma to the victims. Moreover, there were allegations of intimidation by SAM or his representatives to withdraw the case from the police, including attempts to bribe the victims.

“There were threats, even to victims in Egypt, not to pursue this case. There were also attempts to provide funds to stop it, either by the suspect or his representatives,” he said.

Meanwhile, witness Ustadz Abi Makki stated that in 2021, SAM had allegedly harassed his students.

At that time, the victims, along with student teachers and religious figures, conducted a tabayyun (verification process), after which SAM apologised and promised not to engage in alleged same-sex sexual harassment again.

However, instead of repenting, in 2025, the teachers received confessions from the students that SAM had repeated similar actions.

Ultimately, a report was filed with Bareskrim Polri regarding the alleged harassment by SAM against his students.

On 2 April 2026, Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a closed meeting with police representatives, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and family representatives to discuss the case.

Following the meeting, the Director of PPA-PPO at Bareskrim Polri, Police Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, stated that there were several crime scenes (TKP) in this case.

“So, several locations where the incidents occurred include Purbalingga, Sukabumi, Jakarta, Bandung, and Egypt,” she said.

However, she did not provide further details on the case.
