The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police has named two suspects in the theft of inventory belonging to the Bungur Village Karang Taruna, based on witness testimony and physical evidence.

“We are still investigating the roles of both suspects, how the items were taken, where they were sold, and how the proceeds from the sale of the stolen goods were used,” stated AKBP Robby Saputra, Head of Criminal Investigation at the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to the police, the two suspects, identified by the initials FR and DI, were proven to have taken a complete band instrument set, a screen-printing press, and a sound system. Robby noted that the investigation into the disappearance of several Karang Taruna inventory items is ongoing. He also stated that it is possible the number of suspects could increase, either as perpetrators or as fences for the stolen goods. “There will certainly be further developments in this case, especially if there is a possibility of identifying the mastermind behind this theft,” he added.

Meanwhile, AKP Rosyid, Head of the Mobile Brigade Unit of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police, stated that the designation of FR and DI as suspects was based on witness accounts of seeing both individuals entering the Bungur Village Karang Taruna secretariat and carrying a guitar, which was subsequently sold at the Poncol market. Rosyid also mentioned that two individuals remain on the Most Wanted list (DPO) and that the police are working in synergy with FKDM members to resolve the case.

In connection with the same case, RL (38), a resident of RW 03 Bungur Village, Senen, Central Jakarta, received threats from five unidentified individuals after reporting the loss of the Karang Taruna inventory. Following the incident, RL filed a police report at the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Monday, 25 May 2026.

RL recounted the chronology of the event, stating that on 19 May 2026, at approximately 2:00 PM WIB, he was attempting to enter his home when he was approached by five individuals—three men and two women. The group approached him and demanded that he withdraw the police report regarding the stolen inventory. Furthermore, RL was threatened with death. “One of the five individuals held something resembling a knife to me and said, ‘Withdraw the report, or I will kill you,’” RL said. Shocked by the threat, RL momentarily froze at his doorstep before retreating into his house.
