Police Name Suspect in Assault of Golf Caddy in Tangerang

Police have officially named FP (38) as a suspect in the assault of a golf caddy at the Modern Golf course in Tangerang, Banten. The man, whose case went viral on social media, is now charged under Article 466 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. The announcement was made by the Head of Public Relations for the Tangerang City Metro Police, AKP Iwan Heriestiawan, following a case review. ‘Based on the results of the case review, investigators have named the individual as a suspect,’ AKP Iwan Heriestiawan told reporters on Saturday, 27 June 2026. Police stated the suspect was named after investigators gathered evidence and conducted an examination of the perpetrator. FP was arrested by the Tangerang City Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Friday, 26 June 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. The arrest operation was led directly by the Head of Criminal Investigation, AKBP Parikhesit. The suspect was apprehended at his residence in the Kemiling sub-district of Bandar Lampung City and subsequently transported to the Tangerang City Metro Police headquarters for further questioning. From preliminary examinations, police revealed the alleged assault was triggered by jealousy. The incident began when the suspect asked a course marshal, identified as VD, to buy him a drink. After receiving the drink, the suspect said, ‘Thank you, my dear sister.’ This remark was overheard by the victim, a caddy who had frequently served the suspect during his golf games.
