Police name salon employee suspect in sexual abuse of seven children
Central Lombok Police have named a salon employee with the initials HJ as a suspect in a case of alleged sexual abuse against seven boys and have detained him for investigation purposes.
Head of Public Relations of Central Lombok Police, First Inspector Lalu Brata Kusnadi, said in Central Lombok on Thursday that the suspect has been detained at the Central Lombok Police detention centre.
“We have named him a suspect and placed him in detention,” he said.
According to Brata, the investigation showed that the suspect allegedly committed the acts repeatedly, using the method of giving money to the victims.
Investigators obtained information that the victims, aged 13 to 15, received between Rp50,000 and Rp100,000 from the suspect.
The case came to light after one of the victims told his Quran teacher about the alleged acts he had experienced.
The information was then learned by the victim’s parents and reported to the police, and the case was eventually handled by the Women and Children Protection Unit of Central Lombok Police.
Brata said investigators are continuing to examine the case to complete the evidence and confirm all facts related to the matter.
In this case, investigators have applied charges under the Sexual Violence Crime Law and/or the Child Protection Law.
